Job summary

Avalon Risk Management, Inc. is seeking a customer support representative for the Bond Claims department. This full-time, non-exempt position sits at our Schaumburg, IL headquarters with a hybrid in-office and work-from-home option after training.

The role emphasizes accurate claims handling, deadlines, and professional client communications. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in professional customer service, preferably in import/logistics-related fields, and strong Outlook skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a professional customer service role.
• Preferably within importation industry or related fields such as contracts, finance, or billing support.
• Direct insurance support experience focusing on logistics is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities

• Email Liquidated Damages claims prior to demand on surety to importers and brokers based on automated reports.
• Collect and record proof of payment and other claim documents to mitigate claims.
• Document and upload documents to claim files as they are received.
• Elevate and forward files to Claim Specialists (adjusters) as needed.
• Coordinate collateral verification checks using the request template.
• Email Intent to Terminate notifications on delinquent bonds.
• Conduct internet searches for current address/contact information for importers.
• Facilitate completion of payments involving brokers, importers, and Customs.
• Assist with data gathering, recording information in systems, and generating claim tracking reports.
• Assist with mail, claim intake, and forwarding payments to appropriate parties.
