IAT Insurance Group in Anaheim, California is seeking a Contract Surety Associate Underwriter to join a structured training program starting June 1, 2027. The role blends office presence on Mon-Wed with remote work Thu-Fri, enabling a hybrid schedule while learning the surety business.

The program emphasizes financial analysis, risk assessment, and relationship building, with potential for a long-term underwriting career in surety after completing training.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or equivalent applicable experience (May 2027 graduates considered).
• Equivalent experience defined as 4 years in the insurance industry.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as leadership, professionalism, organization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the financial position of firms by analyzing financial statements, job schedules and credit reports.
• Analyze a construction firm's management and organizational capabilities to prosecute single projects and overall work program.
• Assess legal documents including contracts, bond forms, General Agreements of Indemnity and similar documents.
• Develop effective business relationships with agency partnerships.
• Closely interact with Branch Management and Home Office personnel.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

IAT Insurance Group has an opening for a Contract Surety Associate Underwriter in our Anaheim, California location, starting June 1st of 2027.

This position is a great entry-level career opportunity and/or a great position for someone with several years of industry experience who wants to continue to learn and grow in the insurance industry. The program consists of Home Office classroom sessions, Field Office training and individual study. This program offers qualified candidates the chance to learn about the insurance business and the opportunity for a successful career in the surety industry. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.

Upon completion of the training program the candidate will be prepared to:

• Evaluate the financial position of firms by analyzing their financial statements, job schedules and credit reports.
• Analyze a construction firm’s management and organizational capabilities to prosecute single projects and overall work program.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by employer, now or in the future.

*Current IAT employees must have been in their role for at least six months and must have satisfactory performance and attendance records to be eligible for the program.

Compensation:

Please note, that the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $70,000 – $80,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more.
