Job summary

IMA Financial Group, Inc. in Wichita, KS is seeking a seasoned surety professional to coordinate complex surety services for small to medium clients. You will gather underwriting data, manage relationships, and educate clients through the bonding process.

Role requires 5–10 years in surety, P&C licensing, continued education, and strong analytical skills. Light travel and collaboration with internal teams are expected in this hybrid position.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of similar or surety-related experience
  • P&C insurance license required for domicile state and client locations
  • Continued education requirements
  • Ability to interpret and analyze surety/insurance documents and financial documents
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills related to surety underwriting and marketing
  • Can manage multiple tasks with good time management
  • Coordinate workflow on special projects
  • Experience with MS Office products (PowerPoint/Outlook/Word/Excel)
  • Limited travel of 25% or less

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all surety services for small to medium clients with guidance as needed
  • Gather, analyze and maintain underwriting information for clients and prospects
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients, external/internal customers and surety company personnel
  • Educate and support clients through the bonding process
  • Lead client surety meetings with moderate guidance
  • Demonstrate problem solving and contract/credit surety expertise for the agency
  • Develop new and re-marketing submissions and manage marketing to maintain competitive bond programs
  • Assist in selling new lines of business
  • Assist with cross-training within the bond department (SAM/SAR)
  • Oversee AR collections per IMA Surety process
  • Perform duties in an IMA office about 50% of the time

Job description

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values

  • Primary accountability for coordination of all surety services provided to clients involving a degree of complexity and responsibility, that are small to medium sized companies
  • Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Gathers, analyzes and maintains underwriting information for clients and prospects
  • Develops and manages close working relationships with external and internal customers, and surety company personnel
  • Provides education, instruction and support to clients throughout the entire bonding process
  • Prepares for and leads client surety meetings with moderate guidance
  • Demonstrates problem solving, coordinating information and specific details, and acting as a source of contract and commercial surety expertise for the agency
  • Develops meaningful new and re-marketing submissions for clients and prospects and manage the marketing process to establish and/or maintain competitive bond programs
  • Assists in developing sales of new or additional lines of business
  • Assists with cross training within the bond department SAM and SAR roles when appropriate
  • Responsibility for overseeing the collection process of AR items in accordance with the IMA Surety Accounts Receivable process
  • Performs functions of the role within an IMA office approximately 50% of the time

Required Experience and Skillsinclude but are not limited to:

  • Five to ten years of similar or surety related experience
  • AFSB Designation preferred
  • Must maintain a Property & Casualty insurance licensed for the state where domiciled, as well others where clients are located
  • Must fulfill appropriate continuing education requirements
  • High degree of diplomacy and trust
  • Ability to interpret and analyze surety/insurance documents and financial documents
  • Strong analytical and math skills, including basic familiarity, and with surety underwriting and marketing
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to coordinate the workflow of others on special projects
  • Experience with MS Office products preferred/required (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel) – or N/A
