Job summary

Roane Medical Center, part of Covenant Health, is seeking a dedicated Supervisor, Environmental Services to oversee the housekeeping department, ensure staff coverage, maintain equipment and supplies, and uphold high cleanliness standards across patient and public areas.

Position Summary:


Responsible for the supervision of the housekeeping department, ensuring maintenance of equipment and supplies and adequate staffing.



Responsibilities


  • Functions as supervisor for all housekeeping personnel and directs work activities.

  • Participates in and assigns all personnel in Housekeeping duties. Will adjust schedules to accomplish tasks, and determine performance of tasks under the supervision of the department manager.

  • Under supervision, participates in the hiring, termination, and evaluation of staff based on job performance.

  • Schedules shifts, vacations, etc., of all department personnel, ensuring adequate coverage of areas. Coordinates staff relief for meals, breaks, and meetings.

  • Trains and orients personnel in proper procedures and techniques.

  • Arranges in-service programs and other educational training for staff.

  • Determines supplies needed to perform the jobs, orders and maintains supplies and equipment.

  • Responsible for the laundry service, including the supplies, linens, and condition of the equipment. Will schedule laundry process to ensure adequate supplies for all patient needs.

  • Will evaluate public areas and restrooms for cleanliness on a timely basis.

  • Local travel required.

  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Education:


None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.


Minimum Experience:


Two (2) years of housekeeping and/or supervisory experience required.


Licensure Requirement:


Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
