Job summary

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is seeking a Housekeeper in Environmental Services for PRN/variable hours per pay period at the Morristown location. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms and hospital areas while stocking supplies and following all policies and safety standards.

Candidates should be able to work independently, adhere to infection-control procedures, and perform routine tasks across hospital facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Healthcare sanitation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes rooms and furnishings following schedules and policies.
• Assists in cleaning spills as needed.
• Performs daily checks of assigned equipment for cleanliness and operation.
• Reports repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings and fixtures.
• Removes waste and soiled linens using proper handling of biohazardous waste.
• Monitors supplies and notifies supervisor when levels run low.
• Performs self-inspections of tasks and areas.
• Complies with safety standards and completes required education.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Clean and sanitize rooms and furnishing following established policies, procedures, and schedules to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital and related buildings. Also responsible for stocking supplies in restrooms, appropriate hospital and related building rooms.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
• Assists in cleaning of emergency spills observed or upon request.
• Performs daily check of assigned equipment for cleanliness and proper repair.
• Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furnishings, buildings and fixtures.
• Removes waste and soiled linens from work area. Places in specified containers or bags. Demonstrates proper handling of biohazardous wastes.
• Monitors levels of supplies and equipment. Notifies supervisor of need for additional supplies.
• Performs personal inspection of all tasks performed/areas assigned.
• Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
