Job summary

Lantern Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Housing Stability Specialist in the Bronx, NY (multiple sites) to support tenants in Lantern’s supportive housing programs.

You will manage intake, leasing compliance, rent collection coordination, and tenant engagement, working with vulnerable populations and cross-functional teams. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, knowledge of LIHTC and rent regulations, and a collaborative approach with clinical and property

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience with vulnerable populations (homelessness, mental health, HIV/AIDS, etc.).
• Experience in leasing compliance, property management, supportive housing, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of housing regulations including LIHTC, Section 8, NYCHA, HPD, DHCR, rent stabilization, and Fair Housing.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality customer service to residents and applicants.
• Maintain accurate and complete tenant files with regulatory compliance.
• Manage vacancies following Lantern policies.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and property management for a safe, supportive environment.
• Monitor occupancy and aim for at least 95% occupancy.
• Coordinate intake with referral sources and interview applicants.
• Review eligibility documentation and assist subsidy applications.
• Prepare lease renewals and complete lease documentation.
• Communicate with funders and landlords, submit rent rolls and required reports.
• Oversee arrears notices and collaborate on interventions.
