Job summary

Job description

Position: Supported Employment Specialist (Regular)

We are hiring a positive, personable individual to provide full‑cycle employment support for adults with intellectual, developmental, mental health, and substance use challenges. The role requires energy, organization and proven skills in placement goal attainment, job development, client preparation, and retention support.

Job Summary

The Specialist will coordinate supportive employment services within a multidisciplinary clinical team, including:

  • Integrating with Employment Support Professionals and client treatment teams for clinical consultation and employment planning.
  • Guiding clients on disability disclosure decisions and fostering self‑advocacy.
  • Providing vocational assessment, job development, training, technical assistance, safety monitoring, transportation coordination and follow‑along support.
  • Maintaining accurate, clinically sound documentation for billing, assessment and progress reporting.
  • Preparing and submitting reports such as time studies, performance ratings, time sheets, accident reports and client satisfaction surveys.
  • Establishing and managing a job matrix to support client interests and engage employers.
  • Offering on‑site job coaching, follow‑along and retention services to ensure client and employer success.
  • Maintaining compliance with IPRS, MHDDSAS regulations and quality assurance audits.
  • Serving as a liaison between employers and employees to address needs and concerns.
  • Building relationships with supervisors, referring agencies, VR counselors, employers and other stakeholders.
Education & Experience
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in recruiting and job placement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year experience working with intellectually or developmentally disabled persons, mental health or substance‑abuse populations.
  • Valid driver’s license (and insurance if providing transportation).
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screening, criminal background check and required credential verifications.
