Job summary

At Peace Health Care is seeking a compassionate Employment Specialist to provide Supported Employment services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This role focuses on identifying employment goals, placing clients in competitive integrated employment, and coaching at community sites.

Successful candidates collaborate with employers, families, support coordinators, and the support team, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related field preferred.
• Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build relationships with community employers.
• Ability to work independently in community-based settings.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Reliable attendance and dependability.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation when required.
• Background checks and clearances completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide supported employment services based on ISP, strengths, and goals.
• Assist with career interests, employment preferences, and job search.
• Support résumés, applications, interviews, and employer outreach.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local employers.
• Complete job analyses to identify duties and supports.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and systematic instruction.
• Use teaching strategies like modeling, prompts, and visual supports.
• Help develop workplace skills such as attendance, communication, and time management.
• Encourage independence and natural workplace supports.
• Develop fading plans for coaching as individuals become more independent.
• Assist communication with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain professional boundaries with clients and team.
• Monitor progress and report changes to supervisors.
• Follow health, safety, confidentiality, and rights requirements.
• Provide transportation when required.
• Complete service documentation timely.
• Participate in training, supervision, and meetings.
