Job summary

Easterseals New Jersey is seeking an Employment Specialist for Central NJ (Middlesex and Somerset Counties) or South NJ (Atlantic and Cumberland Counties). The hybrid, full-time role focuses on helping individuals secure and maintain competitive employment by fostering independence and building employer partnerships.

Responsibilities include intake, employment planning, on-the-job coaching, and job development, with emphasis on soft skills and person-centered approaches.

Qualifications

• ,Education: Associate’s degree required.
• Experience: 1 year of related experience in human services required.
• Requirements: Possess a valid driver’s license & acceptable driving record.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in overcoming barriers to employment and secure competitive employment that is consistent with their vocational goals.
• Contact new referral, complete initial intake, develop employment plan utilizing person-centered planning, and maintain a Consumer file.
• Assist the consumer with on-the-job coaching to acquire the skills needed to perform the specific job task, which may require hands-on training or other learning accommodations to ensure that skills are learned.
• Conduct job searches and job development to obtain competitive employment that is consistent with the consumer’s goals, skills, interests, and IPE.
• Assist consumers in developing or re-establishing appropriate soft skills, attitudes, personal characteristics, work behaviors, and functional capacities.
• Work in partnership with referral sources in marketing the program and receiving referrals for the Employment Services program.

Shift: Full-Time, Hybrid, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Must be flexible to work evenings & weekends as needed)

What You’ll Do

The Employment Specialist helps individuals secure and maintain competitive employment by fostering independence, building employer partnerships, and identifying workplace supports for long-term success.
