Job summary

Barrington Park District is seeking a Preschool Support Staff/One-on-One to assist in including a child into the program and to lead a range of activities with personal leadership. Salary begins at $16.50 per hour and is tied to the part-time, morning schedule.

The role requires teamwork with the Preschool Director and teachers, reliable attendance, and a dedication to safe, engaging activities that build social and self-expression skills in children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Ability to teach in a given class situation.
• Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification.
• Red Cross EpiPen Training (will train)
• DCFS Mandated Reporter Training (will train)

Responsibilities

• Takes directions from the Preschool Director and classroom teachers.
• Attends all staff and program meetings.
• Arrives on time and is prepared for the day’s activities.
• Reports absences in a timely manner.
• Encourages the child’s day-to-day activities and development.
• Supports positive behavior through reinforcement and supervision.
• Increases self-expression skills in children.
• Encourages socialization through structured and spontaneous activities.
• Provides a safe, non-threatening environment for skill development.
• Fosters self-reliance and peer relationships.
• Assists with housekeeping duties related to program operations.

HOURS: MORNING HOURS SCHEDULE VARIES BASED ON CLASS

EMPLOYMENT GRADE: 4

PAY RANGE: STARTING AT $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervisor of the PRESCHOOL DIRECTOR, the staff support / one-on-one is responsible for the supervised inclusion, of said child, into the Program, creating, organizing and displaying personal leadership in a wide variety of recreational activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Takes directions from the Preschool Director and classroom teachers
• Attends all staff and program meetings
• Arrives on time and is prepared for the day’s activities
• Reports absences in a timely manner
• Shows interest in the day’s activities and encourages the same for said child
• Is sensitive to the individual needs of said child
• Will encourage positive behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and assisting with impulse control, this will be accomplished by the staff member being in close proximity and attentive of said child at all times
• To increase skills of self-expression
• To encourage socialization and interaction through participation in structured and spontaneous group activities
• To provide a safe non-threatening environment in which skill development can be achieved.
• To encourage social independence and self-reliance
• To increase awareness of and encourage the development of new leisure activities.
• To provide opportunities to increase self-confidence and self-esteem
• To provide opportunities to develop peer relationships
• Helps with housekeeping duties related to program operation as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma is preferred
• Thorough knowledge of the specific activity preferred
• Ability to teach in any given class situation
• Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
• RED CROSS EPI PEN TRAINNG (WILL TRAIN)
• DCFS MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING (WILL TRAIN)
