About The Role

The Learning and Technology Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting online and distance education by assisting Instructional Technology and Learning Experience teams with the design, development, implementation, and management of asynchronous courses. This position provides expertise in Canvas and other educational technologies, promotes data-informed decision-making, and collaborates closely with faculty and stakeholders to enhance the quality of online teaching and learning. The role offers an option for remote work and requires flexibility in working with complex course designs.

Responsibilities

• Stay current on the latest educational technology trends and tools relevant to online learning
• Collaborate with Instructional Technology staff to support faculty and staff, test new technologies, and develop new services
• Assist in evaluating and selecting new educational technologies, providing data-driven recommendations
• Develop training materials and provide support for faculty, staff, and students on educational technology use
• Maintain and update the Learning Management System (Canvas) and assist with technology maintenance
• Act as a key resource and contact for Canvas and other educational technologies
• Apply instructional design principles and learning theories to online course design and implementation
• Work with subject matter experts and faculty to design innovative, high-quality online courses
• Manage multiple projects, coordinate course development and delivery processes, and ensure course quality through best practices
• Support accessibility standards to ensure content is accessible to all learners
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; preferred fields include Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or Education
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience as an instructional technologist or instructional designer
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development basics
• Experience managing multiple complex projects and meeting deadlines
• Strong collaboration skills working with multiple stakeholders
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with diverse audiences
• Familiarity with Universal Design principles and accessibility standards
• Proven ability to stay current with rapidly evolving educational technologies
• Experience with Canvas LMS or similar learning management systems
