Job summary

LabCorp seeks a Support Services Supervisor at our Durham facility to lead the non-technical Pathology Support Services team, oversee daily workflow, train staff, and ensure accurate, timely processing. You will manage payroll in Workday, resolve production issues, and drive continuous process and service level improvements while maintaining quality assurance records.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • 3+ years in laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Experience supervising or leading a team is preferred (1 year+)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the non-technical staff for the Pathology Support Services department
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor non-technical personnel of the department
  • Monitor daily workflow, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts in the lab
  • Performs department employee payroll functions in Workday
  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
  • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
  • Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 6:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the non-technical staff for the Pathology Support Services department
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor non-technical personnel of the department
  • Monitor daily workflow, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts in the lab and schedule adequate coverage
  • Performs department employee payroll functions in Workday
  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates Degree
  • 3 or more years of experience in a laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing or warehouse environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months or more of experience in a clinical laboratory
  • 1 year or more experience of supervising or leading a team
Additional Job Standards
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Strong computer skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
