Job summary

Unisys in Minnesota, USA, is seeking a Software Engineer to join a team that develops, improves and delivers product and system elements. You will participate in design discussions and assist with estimating work for future features.

The role emphasizes unit/system testing, secure coding, troubleshooting, and documenting best practices while mentoring newer teammates. A BA/BS or equivalent is required, with export-control eligibility a consideration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent.
  • Recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • This role may require access to export-controlled commodities and technology; applicant should be eligible for required authorizations from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes technical / procedural skills to support an assigned team’s work within a specified application set or on discrete system elements.
  • Serves as a participating member on teams tasked to develop, improve and deliver product / system elements and features.
  • Engages in design and development discussions, helping the team conceptualize desired outcomes from a Software Engineering perspective.
  • Assists with feature / element estimation in terms of technical input, resources, time and anticipated outcomes.
  • Creates detailed plans for migrating legacy tools and systems to new / unified systems and language
  • Develops and implements unit and systems testing for integral code paths, ensuring adherence to secure coding practices at all times.
  • Provides technical support, including troubleshooting and enhancement for existing and new features within application and system structures.
  • Documents processes to capture best practices, applicable methodologies and repeatability going forward.
  • Updates team members, manager, product owners and other key stakeholders on status, challenges and concerns.
  • Trains / mentors junior team members.

You will be successful in this role if you have:
