Job description

About Protect Life Michigan

Thousands of lives are on the line every day due to abortion. Are you ready to stand up and change hearts to stop it? We are defenders on a mission to recruit, equip, and deploy students around Michigan to become passionate and professional social reformers. We won’t stop until abortion is unthinkable. Since 2005, we have grown from a group of volunteers to a team of dozens of powerhouse activists. Each team member is bright, strategic, and dedicated to protecting the unborn.

Anyone in ministry knows that support raising is critical to both equipping missionaries for the work God has called them to, and mobilizing God’s people to take part in what God is doing by generously supporting it. Protect Life Michigan’s Support Raising Coach will help staff understand this core truth so they can be vision-driven, spiritually healthy, and fully funded.

This role requires a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to lead others in a clear, encouraging, and practical way. This role works closely with the Support Raising Specialist to assess overall staff support-raising progress, identify new hires who need a higher level of support, and provide the necessary support each week.

This position requires an individual to be fully committed to Support Raising and in agreement with Protect Life Michigan’s strategy for mission partner development.

Location:

Remote in Michigan, with occasional in-person activities.

Time commitment:

This is a part-time to full-time position, with options ranging from 10-40 hours per week depending on the candidate’s availability.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • New hires:
    • Before support raising begins, hold check-in meetings with new hires to review their prep work, answer questions, explain their weekly goals, and provide presentation feedback. Ideally, meet with new hires in-person.
    • During initial support raising, evaluate weekly progress reports to assess staff health, questions, barriers, coaching opportunities, etc. to prepare for one-on-one coaching sessions.
    • Provide one-on-one coaching to staff via weekly check-in meetings. From their reports, review their progress, provide feedback including spiritual encouragement, practical advice, and radically-candid accountability. Together, determine clear expectations for success moving forward.
    • Assist in hosting internal Support Raising Bootcamps.
    • Assist in overseeing weekly phone call blocks.
    • Regularly report staff progress and any issues to the Support Raising Specialist.
    • Participate in Monthly Recap Meetings with the Support Raising Specialist: to review candidate training needs and set new goals, provide updates on staff progress through support raising, receive ongoing coaching training and feedback, and adjust support raising plans for staff as needed.
    • Participate in Quarterly Progress Reviews with the Support Raising Specialist: to evaluate overall progress, adjust strategies, plan for the next quarter, synthesize data, observe and communicate patterns, for the purpose of improving coaching and support raising outcomes.
  • Veteran Staff:
    • Provide one-on-one coaching to current employees who are entering a new season of support raising, including meeting with them to create their strategy, assessing any specific challenges you can help them overcome, and training them on renewals, increases, and referrals as needed.
    • Foster a positive support raising culture through language, behavior, learning opportunities, mission moments, and more.
  • Interns
    • During the months of January to June of each year, assist with the training and coaching of summer interns. This may include hosting group coaching cohorts, and providing additional support to individuals as needed.
  • Assist with other projects and tasks, as needed
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the pro-life movement and the mission of Protect Life Michigan.
  • Support-raising experience required.
  • Excellent coaching skills, ability to encourage others while providing relevant, practical advice, and confidence in solving problems on a case-by-case basis.
  • Google Workspace experience required.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence with an ability to show support, celebrate wins, and hold people accountable to goals and outcomes.
  • Ability to understand data and manage multiple projects independently.
