Job summary

Katalyst CRO is seeking an Operational Excellence Engineer Intern to assist the OpEx Engineering team in driving Lean transformation and quality improvements across manufacturing processes. You will help ensure strategies are implemented and tools are embedded in daily workflows, requiring attention to detail, organization, and collaboration.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an undergrad program and keen to gain hands-on experience in continuous improvement, standard work, and problem solving

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work across departments.
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• To support the Manufacturing Manager in implementing Lean transformation and continuous improvement that leads to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity across the manufacturing organization.
• Participating in Gemba walks, kaizens, supporting employees on continuous improvement, standard work, flow, takt time attainment, and problem-solving abnormalities causing tasks to make mistakes.
• Support development and improvement of Assembly visual work aids.
• Conduct cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements and workplace improvements.
• Support lean disciplines and 5-S to internal processes, Support on-site audits.
• Support continuous improvement and cost reduction projects at the site.
• Appreciation and awareness for Manufacturing demand and prioritization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement-based tools and techniques a plus.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or other related fields of study.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Related project work or previous internship a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work across a variety of departments.
• Multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

Work environment and physical demands of this position

• Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Weekend and overtime work may be occasionally required.
• Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
