Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Distribution Technician in Central Supply Service to deliver and stock medical supplies and equipment to user departments under supervision.

Responsibilities include verifying items, operating pallet jacks, processing paperwork, and maintaining clean work areas while delivering excellent service and accurate documentation to support patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid NC Real ID driver's license (or valid United States Passport if not Real ID) will be verified by CFV Risk Management for vehicle insurance program inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplies to walk-in customers and document dispensed items to the correct accounts.
• Process pick tickets and stage orders for deliveries to external customers.
• Deliver special order supplies and equipment and obtain signatures.
• Break down pallets and store received supplies into inventory.
• Verify items, codes, expiration dates and quantities.
• Safely operate pallet jacks to deliver supplies and equipment to requestors.
• Perform duties in the facility's mailroom.
• Communicate with purchasing, vendors, or requestors about inbound supplies.
• Pickup, return and sanitize work area before/after shift.
• Perform scheduled rounds and deliver supplies and equipment from Central Supply.
• Perform all Stat runs as necessary.
• Assemble specialty kits for restocking units.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for delivering requested supplies and/or equipment from Distribution to the various user departments within the facility. All tasks are completed under direct supervision of Distribution Supervisor, or designated Charge Technician (if applicable)

Major Job Functions

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:

• Provide supplies to walk-in customers and utilize proper documentation to ensure that the supplies that were dispensed are issued to respective accounts


• Processes pick tickets and stage appropriate orders for deliveries to external customers


• Deliver special order supplies and equipment to various requestors and obtain signatures to verify deliveries


• Break down pallets and put away supplies received into inventory


• Verify correct items, manufacturer codes, expiration dates and quantities received


• Safely operate the manual or electric pallet jacks to deliver supplies and equipment to requestors


• Perform the duties associated with the facility's mailroom


• Initiate all communication both oral and written to purchasing, vendor, or requestors regarding any issues in relation to inbound supplies


• Responsible for picking up, returning and sanitizing work area before and after assigned shift


• Perform scheduled rounds and deliver requested supplies and equipment from Central Supply


• Perform all Stat runs as necessary


• Assemble specialty kits that are to be restocked on the units


• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training :

High school diploma or equivalent required

Valid NC Real ID driver's license (or valid United States Passport if not Real ID) which will be verified by CFV Risk Management, to include obtaining inclusion in the CFV vehicle insurance program

Work Experience :

1 year previous hospital experience preferred

3 months' experience consistently performing tasks for Tech I must be met, prior to competency sign off and consideration for training and advancement to Tech II

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language


• Ability to interact with other employees in CS as well as other departments in the facility


• Excellent customer service skills, to include effective oral communication, and critical thinking skills


• Ability to be flexible to daily changes in operational and patient care issues


• Ability to multi-task if necessary


• Discretion in the proper handling of confidential information is mandatory


• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate these when necessary

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to see and hear


• Capable of withstanding fatigue associated with continuous walking and standing


• Capable of delivering supplies and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing carts with rolling weight of up to 100 pounds
