Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a Distribution Tech to deliver supplies and equipment within the facility. You will process tickets, stage orders, and ensure items are signed for and verified during delivery.

Responsibilities include pallet movement, inventory updates, mailroom tasks, and coordinating with Purchasing and vendors to resolve issues. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Reads, writes, and speaks fluent English.
• 1 year hospital experience preferred.
• 3 months' experience as Tech I required before advancement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver requested supplies and equipment to user departments with proper documentation.
• Process pick tickets and stage orders for deliveries to internal and external customers.
• Deliver special orders and obtain signatures for verification.
• Break down pallets and store inbound supplies in inventory.
• Verify items, codes, expirations and quantities received.
• Operate pallet jacks to transport supplies and equipment.
• Perform mailroom duties for the facility.
• Communicate with purchasing, vendors and requestors about issues.

Summary

Responsible for delivering requested supplies and/or equipment from Distribution to the various user departments within the facility. All tasks are completed under direct supervision of Distribution Supervisor, or designated Charge Technician (if applicable)

Major Job Functions

• Provide supplies to walk-in customers and utilize proper documentation to ensure that the supplies that were dispensed are issued to respective accounts
• Processes pick tickets and stage appropriate orders for deliveries to external customers
• Deliver special order supplies and equipment to various requestors and obtain signatures to verify deliveries
• Break down pallets and put away supplies received into inventory
• Verify correct items, manufacturer codes, expiration dates and quantities received
• Safely operate the manual or electric pallet jacks to deliver supplies and equipment to requestors
• Perform the duties associated with the facility's mailroom
• Initiate all communication both oral and written to purchasing, vendor, or requestors regarding any issues in relation to inbound supplies
• Responsible for picking up, returning and sanitizing work area before and after assigned shift
• Perform scheduled rounds and deliver requested supplies and equipment from Central Supply
• Perform all Stat runs as necessary
• Assemble specialty kits that are to be restocked on the units
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

• Education and Formal Training :
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid North Carolina driver's license which will be verified by Risk Management for inclusion in CFV vehicle insurance
• Work Experience :
• 1 year previous hospital experience preferred
• 3 months' experience consistently performing tasks for Tech I must be met, prior to competency sign off and consideration for training and advancement to Tech II
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
• Reads, writes, and speaks fluent English
• Ability to interact with other employees in CS as well as other departments in the facility
• Excellent customer service skills, to include effective oral communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to be flexible to daily changes in operational and patient care issues
• Ability to multi‑task if necessary
• Discretion in the proper handling of confidential information is mandatory
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate these when necessary
• Physical Requirements :
• Ability to see and hear
• Capable of withstanding fatigue associated with continuous walking and standing
• Capable of delivering supplies and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing carts with rolling weight of up to 100 pounds
