Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is hiring a Distribution Clerk to deliver supplies and equipment within the facility, process pick tickets, and support the mailroom and inventory tasks. You will work under supervision in a dynamic hospital environment, ensuring accurate deliveries and proper documentation.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver supplies and equipment from Central Distribution to user departments with proper documentation.
  • Process pick tickets and stage orders for delivery to internal and external customers.
  • Deliver special orders and obtain signatures to verify deliveries.
  • Break down pallets and stock received items into inventory.
  • Verify items, codes, expiration dates, and quantities.
  • Operate pallet jacks (manual or electric) to move supplies.
  • Assist with mailroom duties and communicate issues with purchasing or vendors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform routine rounds of delivery.
  • Support inbound/outbound supply operations and respond to requests as needed.

Job description

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Distribution Job Family Service Work Shift Variable (United States of America) Summary Responsible for delivering requested supplies and/or equipment from Distribution to the various user departments within the facility. All tasks are completed under direct supervision of Distribution Supervisor, or designated Charge Technician (if applicable).

Major Job Functions
  • Provide supplies to walk-in customers and utilize proper documentation to ensure that the supplies that were dispensed are issued to respective accounts
  • Processes pick tickets and stage appropriate orders for deliveries to external customers
  • Deliver special order supplies and equipment to various requestors and obtain signatures to verify deliveries
  • Break down pallets and put away supplies received into inventory
  • Verify correct items, manufacturer codes, expiration dates and quantities received
  • Safely operate the manual or electric pallet jacks to deliver supplies and equipment to requestors
  • Perform the duties associated with the facility's mailroom
  • Initiate all communication both oral and written to purchasing, vendor, or requestors regarding any issues in relation to inbound supplies
  • Responsible for picking up, returning and sanitizing work area before and after assigned shift
  • Perform scheduled rounds and deliver requested supplies and equipment from Central Supply
  • Perform all Stat runs as necessary
  • Assemble specialty kits that are to be restocked on the units
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license which will be verified by Risk Management for inclusion in CFV vehicle insurance
  • Work Experience: 1 year previous hospital experience preferred
  • 3 months' experience consistently performing tasks for Tech I must be met, prior to competency sign off and consideration for training and advancement to Tech II

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Reads, writes, and speaks fluent English Ability to interact with other employees in CS as well as other departments in the facility Excellent customer service skills, to include effective oral communication, and critical thinking skills Ability to be flexible to daily changes in operational and patient care issues Ability to multi-task if necessary Discretion in the proper handling of confidential information is mandatory Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate these when necessary

Physical Requirements: Ability to see and hear Capable of withstanding fatigue associated with continuous walking and standing Capable of delivering supplies and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing carts with rolling weight of up to 100 pounds
