UPMC is looking for a full-time Supply Specialist to support our UPMC Community General located in Harrisburg.
This position works Monday-Friday, 6:30 am - 3 pm. Weekends off!
Purpose:
Receives and stores supplies, monitors inventory, identifies and removes expired items, and fulfills supply requests.
Responsibilities:
- Attend annual Hospital and departmental fire/safety and infection control training and maintain current knowledge of safety procedures within the hospital and department.
- Accurately enter information of receipts of goods into Peoplesoft system as needed.
- Communicate effectively with hospital contacts both on the telephone and in person, across all age groups and populations.
- Fill supply requests and deliver supplies to the requisitioning department, ensuring the recipient signs for the materials and supplies, and return signed delivery sheets for filing.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned work area and supply areas according to regulatory standards.
- Coordinate ordering and placement of regulated items identified by the Pharmacy, including FDA legend medications under supervision. Access to secure Pharmacy locations will be supervised by Hospital Pharmacy Staff.
- Coordinate shipment preparations by packaging, marking, and preparing necessary documents such as bills of lading.
- Check par stock areas for expired products, dispose of expired items properly, and replenish inventory, rotating stock to minimize expiration exposure.
- Follow reporting procedures for any incident or serious event affecting patient care.
- Unload equipment, inspect, verify, accept or reject supplies from delivery trucks, and stage items appropriately.
- Store and organize items within the Materials Management Department.
- Receive incoming materials, verify against packing slips, document discrepancies or damages, and notify supervisors.
