Job summary

JOB PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the Materials Manager, the Supply Manager I plans, coordinates, and administers inventory, warehouse, procurement, and supply management operations for assigned Department of Juvenile Justice facilities. Ensures the efficient acquisition, tracking, storage, distribution, and accountability of supplies, equipment, uniforms, and assets while maintaining compliance with state procurement regulations, fiscal requirements, and agency policies. Supports facility operations through exceptional customer service, accurate inventory management, effective resource stewardship, and continuous process improvement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates and manages inventory, warehouse, and supply operations for assigned facilities.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels to support daily operations; receives, stores, distributes, and tracks supplies, uniforms, equipment, and other inventory items.
  • Monitors inventory usage patterns, establishes reorder points, conducts physical inventories, and ensures inventory accuracy through perpetual inventory management systems and warehouse best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with agency requirements, inventory control, and tool and supply management requirements.
  • Processes and maintains procurement and inventory documentation, reconciles transactions, completes SCEIS inventory functions including Goods Issues and Goods Receipts, and ensures all inventory activities follow applicable regulations and audit standards.
  • Performs administrative and operational support functions related to inventory and supply management.
  • Prepares requisitions, shopping carts, inventory reports, spreadsheets, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintains inventory databases, supply logs, and related administrative files.
  • Serves as a liaison between facility staff, vendors, contractors, and agency leadership on supply and service matters.
  • Coordinates facility operational support activities related to inventory, supplies, logistics, and resource management.
  • Helps with vendor coordination, facility support services, inventory transitions, special inventory projects, and other operational activities necessary to support agency programs and facility effectiveness.
  • When assigned, coordinates and supervises the activities of the SCDC work crew. Makes prompt reports of issues or obstacles related to the SCDC crew.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of inventory and supply management operations.
  • Conducts assessments of supply processes, solicits feedback from facilities and stakeholders, and assists with implementing improvements that enhance supply operations.
  • Completes all employee training when assigned.
  • Performs other related job duties required by Support Services and Leadership.
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires a working knowledge of supply practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures applicable to Inventory Management.
  • Must have knowledge of Windows Software, Adobe, and South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must possess a valid SC driver's license and be able to pass the Defensive Driver's training test.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Training applicable to these duties will be provided.

Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in an environment with incarcerated juveniles.

This position is an essential position.

PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma and at least three (3) years of work experience directly related to Inventory/Supply management. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for work experience.
