Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a moves/delivery coordinator to manage surplus assets, electronics disposal, and the relocation of staff and equipment. You will oversee receiving, staging, and inventory of excess property and supervise inmate labor to support agency operations.

  • High school diploma or related work experience.
  • Working knowledge of supply practices and inventory controls.
  • Understanding of accounting/bookkeeping procedures for inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Valid SC driver's license and ability to pass Defensive Driver's training.
  • Forklift certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct oversight for the handling, staging, and processing of surplus assets and electronics disposal.
  • Coordinates the physical organization of the surplus holding area.
  • Directs the inmate labor crew in safely loading, unloading, and preparing excess equipment and furniture for transfer to State/Federal Surplus.
  • Ensures items match inventory disposal records prior to transport.
  • Directs and monitors the assigned inmate labor crew during daily operations.
  • Assigns tasks based on the schedule set by the manager, manages hourly workflows, and ensures labor productivity.
  • Actively monitors inmate security, movement, and behavior in accordance with institutional and agency guidelines.
  • Provides direct, hands-on coordination and labor support for agency-wide moves.
  • Leads the inmate crew in safely packing, loading, transporting, and staging office furniture and equipment.
  • Flags items identified by the manager for surplus, disposal, or short/long-term storage.
  • Enforces all safety protocols and institutional security guidelines on the floor.
  • Conducts safety briefings, maintains strict tool and equipment control logs, and ensures proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by the crew.
  • Safely operates warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Reports any immediate hazards and/or security breaches directly to the manager.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of inmate crew attendance and completed tasks.
  • Performs regular physical inventory counts of equipment and furniture to assist the manager with tracking, assessment, and stock analysis.

Mission

Job Purpose

Under general supervision of the Property Manager, serves as the moves/delivery coordinator for all supply, equipment, and excess items for the agency. Responsible for the receiving, distribution, storing and inventory of all excess property goods needed to operate efficiently. Occasionally collaborate with other supply manager(s) on these duties. Assists in coordinating the relocation of SCDJJ staff personnel, excess property, and vehicle management. Assists in the supervision of the SCDC inmate labor crew.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Performs other related job duties required by management.

State Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.

Additional Requirements
  • Requires a working knowledge of supply practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures applicable to property and inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have knowledge of Windows Software.
  • Must have a valid SC driver's license and be able to pass Defensive Driver's training.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed or on a consistent basis.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma and at least three (3) years of work experience directly related to supply practices. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for work experience.
