Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supervising and managing staff in the Purchasing department. Develops, implements, and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
  • Creates effective and efficient schedules while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives, and achieving deadlines.
  • Responsible for assisting in the budget process for the department and provides recommendations; ensures compliance with departmental budget initiatives; reports budget concerns to manager.
  • Manages the procurement and deliveries of materials, supplies, and equipment for one casino within the brand.
  • Responsible for monitoring and supporting the property’s diversity spend initiatives.
  • Responsible for procurement and expediting of all material supplies, equipment, and services across state and at properties.
  • Monitors results of department/function through inspection, evaluation, and analysis; makes changes if necessary, to achieve desired result.
  • Ensures all vendors comply with licensing requirements for appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Ensures that the procurement process is operating in an effective manner to ensure the optimum benefit as it relates to the bidding process, terms of contract, and negotiations with vendors, while maintaining compliance with state regulations and internal controls.
  • Recommends substitutions for appropriate considerations/requests and analyzes quotes from vendors for unusual items.
  • Negotiates with vendors for goods and services; negotiates the best possible price and service guarantee.
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
  • Audits blanket purchase orders and releases against blanket requisitions.
  • Purchases items and services on an advanced level.
  • Identifies and implements economic savings and synergies across properties as appropriate.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with departmental and company standards and programs. Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise. Responsible for the overall achievement of departmental customer service goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance within area of authority and reporting potential issues to Executive Management/GM.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the Purchasing field with progressively more challenging roles.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, etc.).
  • Proven ability to delegate and lead a team in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Must be proficient in utilizing Stratton Warren.
  • Must possess proven negotiating skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding work environment.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
