Job description

Ready to make an impact at scale? Professional Contractor Supply is looking for an inventory manager to lead strategy, forecasting, and performance across their complex, multi-location distribution network.

The Inventory Manager will own the inventory strategy to make sure the right products sit in the right branches to meet the demands of our professional contractor and online customers. Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, this role will manage more than 300,000 SKU while balance service levels against carrying costs.

What We Have to Offer You:

We have a competitive wage and benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, short & long-term disability, life insurance, vacation, paid time off, employee assistance program, identity guard, legal assistance, pet insurance, volunteer time off, paid parental leave, employee discounts, and a 401(k) plan.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement inventory management policies, procedures, and best practices that keep inventory levels optimal and accurate across all PCS locations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and demand trends, and set reorder points, safety stock levels, and inventory targets in partnership with branch and sales stakeholders.
  • Balance inventory across locations, coordinating stock transfers and replenishment to meet customer demand while controlling carrying cost.
  • Manage demand forecasting methods, measure forecast accuracy, and adjust assumptions based on seasonality, customer demand, company growth, and market changes.
  • Partner with the purchasing team to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement aligned to demand.
  • Manage item setup, maintenance, and data integrity in NetSuite to ensure accurate inventory records and reporting.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to verify accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and drive corrective action.
  • Build inventory performance reporting and KPIs, and use the data to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Minimize excess and obsolete inventory through aging analysis, slow-moving stock identification, and disposition strategies.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure on-time delivery and resolve order or shipment issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align inventory activities with business objectives.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices, and recommend improvements to inventory processes and controls.
  • Protect the confidentiality of company trade secrets and proprietary information, including customer and sales data.
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment, and complete training and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years in inventory management, procurement, or supply chain operations, ideally in distribution or wholesale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with an ERP / inventory management system; NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets); proficient in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills — able to work with complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience managing high‑SKU catalogs (100K+) or inventory across multiple locations.
  • Inventory management certification (e.g., ASCM / APICS CPIM).
