Connecticut Children’s is seeking an Inventory Clerk to maintain adequate inventory within Supply Chain Services. You will perform physical inventories, cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies in Lawson ERP, collaborating with Purchasing and Distribution teams.

You will assist with training, process improvements, and issue resolution while supporting material movements between locations. Responsibilities include restocking per ERP recommendations, FIFO stock rotation, and maintaining stock

Qualifications

  • Experience Required: At least 1–3 years of Inventory management experience.
  • Experience Preferred: Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Education Required: High School Diploma or GED (or higher) required.
  • Education Preferred: Associates Degree preferred.

  • Performs physical inventories and cycle counts; investigates discrepancies in ERP (Lawson).
  • Coordinates with Purchasing to re-stock, issues suggested orders, and uses FIFO.
  • Works with Supply Chain on new items; sets LUOM and reorder points; plans vendor inventory buildup.
  • Identifies back stock and optimizes picking locations; improves process efficiency.
  • Demonstrates support for CT Children’s mission and values.

Works in conjunction with Purchasing, Receiving, and Distribution personnel. Assists in conducting training, participating in process improvements, and supporting material issue/problem resolution.

Ensures that adequate inventory is maintained by supporting material and inventory control policy and procedures within Supply Chain Services. Works in conjunction with Purchasing, Receiving, and Distribution personnel. Assists in conducting training, participating in process improvements, and supporting material issue/problem resolution.

Responsibilities
  • INVENTORY MANAGEMENT (35%): Performs physical inventories and daily cycle counts accurately. Troubleshoots inventory discrepancies physically and in ERP system (Lawson). Can trace transaction in ERP system if inventory is incorrect. Determines reason for inventory discrepancies. Makes inventory adjustments in the system. Facilitates the movement of needed supplies between off-site locations with the logistics team. Assist management audits of Standard Work and training of staff.
  • RESTOCKING (25%): Coordinates with Purchasing regarding the re-supply of stocked materials by issuing suggested orders based on ERP system recommended re-order levels. Communicates with Purchasing and vendors to expedite supplies as needed. Rotates stock using FIFO methodology. Continuously monitors stock levels and backorders to assure adequate supply quantities are available to prevent supply stock outs.
  • SYSTEM FUNCTIONS (25%): Works with Supply Chain personnel on new items being added to inventory stock. Insures correct Low Unit of Measure (LUOM), reorder points based upon department inventory policy and information needed to successfully activate the item. Coordinates with Purchasing to determine the appropriate timing on vendor inventory buildup and hospital needs. Assists in making plans to accommodate backorders and recalls.
  • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT (15%): Places inventory in locations conducive to efficient operations. Identifies back stock and marks prime picking location with information. Moves materials as required from back stock locations into picking locations. Manage supply flow to optimal velocity and minimize excess/obsolete inventory. Identify process improvement and standardization opportunities within Supply Chain activities.
  • Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with CT Children’s standards.
Qualifications

Performs other related responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience Required: At least 1-3 years of Inventory management-related.

Experience Preferred: Healthcare experience preferred.

Education Required: High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school, is required.

Education Preferred: Associates Degree preferred.

LICENSE And/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers. Familiarity with methods of purchasing, supplier partnership, inventory control, shipping, receiving and accounting, as well as procurement, regulations, policies and procedures.

SKILLS:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer). Ability to navigate and manage multiple information systems including ERP system (Lawson), and other databases (Omnicell).

ABILITY:

Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information, or deliver services. Provide a high level of customer service to patients, staff, and external customers in a professional service-oriented, respectful manner using active listening and problem solving.
