Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a dedicated equipment technician to manage, inventory, set up/disassemble and clean medical equipment in patient care areas. The role includes Omnicell supply management and handling special-order purchases. You will work closely with the Biomedical Department to ensure safety and compliance.

Ideal candidates have prior hospital experience with medical equipment, hold a High School diploma, and current BLS/CPR. Strong English communication is required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with medical equipment in a hospital environment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR.
  • Able to read, speak and write English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
  • Maintains inventory of special-order items and completes paperwork to ensure items are charged appropriately.
  • Assists other department staff with stocking unit supplies, cleaning supply room and performing clerical tasks, as needed.
  • Follows up with HH Biomedical Department on requested safety checks and repair work orders on medical equipment in order to enhance the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Coordinates preventative maintenance programs for equipment in all areas.
  • Represents the unit when working on collaborative Medical Center committees with members of various teams, ie: Safety, Hazard Materials, MSDS, EOC.
  • Provides inventory and maintenance functions for equipment related to CCMC programs.
  • Assists physicians with the set-up of traction equipment.

Responsibilities Maintains equipment and supply inventory. Maintains inventory of special-order items and completes paperwork to ensure items are charged appropriately.

Helps coordinators project budgets for repairs, replacement and new purchases.

Follows up with HH Biomedical Department on requested safety checks and repair work orders on medical equipment in order to enhance the Quality Improvement Program. Coordinates preventative maintenance programs for equipment in all areas.

Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families.
