Job summary

Ruan is seeking a Managed Transportation Intern for the Spring 2027 semester. This full-time internship will operate with a mix of on-site at our downtown Des Moines campus and remote work.

The program aims to develop students pursuing futures in supply chain, transportation, accounting, HR, IT, or related fields, exposing them to real-world projects within transportation and customer service. Interns will learn routing optimization, carrier tracking, and contribute to continuous improvement

• Education: Some College Courses Preferred.
• Experience: none.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a variety of transportation and operational tasks to support the managed transportation team.
• Learn routing optimization, carrier tracking, and continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers, and communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
• Contribute to reports and present material as needed, up to 25% time.

Job description

Ruan is now hiring a Managed Transportation Intern for Spring 2027 semester.

This is a full-time position that will work a mix of on-site at our downtown Des Moines campus and remote.

The purpose of the internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a career in supply chain, transportation, accounting, human resources, IT, or applicable division. Interns may be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the transportation business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.

The Managed Transportation Specialist Intern will work with dedicated managed transportation customer account(s). This position will learn routing optimization, carrier tracking, and work on continuous improvement projects that will directly impact Ruan and its customers.

• The purpose of the internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a career in supply chain, transportation, accounting, human resources, IT, or applicable division.
• Interns may be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the transportation business.
• Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace.
• This position works very closely with internal and external customers; strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
