Job summary

TENSHOU Collection is building its procurement team in California to manage purchasing, inventory control, and supplier relationships for upcoming openings in West Hollywood and Las Vegas. The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, market awareness, and collaboration with chefs and store teams.

Candidates should have 1–3 years in purchasing or inventory within hospitality, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with ERP/POS systems.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in supply chain, purchasing, business, or hospitality operations.
  • 1-3 years of purchasing, supply, or inventory experience in restaurants, hospitality, food service, or food distribution.
  • Experience supporting purchasing or procurement activities and coordinating with vendors. Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and communicate findings effectively across teams.
  • Working knowledge of inventory monitoring and reconciliation processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP, inventory management, and POS systems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States (Form I-9).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to store locations, vendor sites, and events within California and occasionally to other states.
  • Preferred - Exposure to Japanese cuisine, imported specialty food products, or fine dining supply standards.
  • Preferred - Bilingual Japanese and English - strongly preferred given TENSHOU's operating structure and Japan-based ownership.
  • Preferred - Supply chain or purchasing certifications (CSCP, CPP, or equivalent).
  • Preferred - Sommelier or Certified Sake Professional certification - preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing & Order Management: plan and execute purchasing activities for ingredients, beverages, and restaurant supplies; place POs accurately and on schedule.
  • Inventory Control & Accuracy: monitor inventory levels; participate in monthly counts; ensure data accuracy and alignment.
  • Vendor Coordination & Relationships: coordinate vendor communications; track performance and support pricing discussions.
  • Data, Reporting & Analysis: analyze procurement and inventory data to identify cost savings and demand trends; prepare reports.
  • Compliance & Team Support: ensure compliance with sourcing policies and food safety standards; assist training.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Order Management

  • Support planning and execution of purchasing activities for ingredients, beverages, and restaurant supplies to ensure availability and operational continuity.
  • Place purchase orders accurately and on schedule; confirm deliveries and follow up on any delays or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues within defined timelines.
  • Maintain and review purchasing records, vendor communications, and pricing history to support sourcing decisions and internal reporting.
  • Monitor market trends, vendor promotions, and product availability to support purchasing decisions and flag opportunities to the Sr. Director.

Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Monitor inventory levels across all assigned categories and units; flag potential stockouts or overstock situations proactively.
  • Coordinate and participate in monthly inventory counts with store and kitchen teams to ensure data accuracy and operational alignment.
  • Support inventory reconciliation - identify and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy at or above company benchmark; zero unplanned stockouts per period.
  • Support adherence to recipe compliance and food quality standards set by chefs; flag any quality deviations at receiving.

Vendor Coordination & Relationships

  • Coordinate vendor communications and participate in pricing discussions and service issue resolution in support of sourcing objectives.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, chefs, and store teams.
  • Track vendor performance: delivery reliability, pricing accuracy, and quality consistency; report findings to the Sr. Director.
  • Visit store locations and supplier sites as needed to monitor quality and collect operational feedback.

Data, Reporting & Analysis

  • Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify potential cost savings, waste reduction opportunities, and demand trends.
  • Support purchasing forecasts by analyzing historical usage, seasonal fluctuations, and current demand signals.
  • Track purchasing budgets and report variances; ensure spend remains within approved targets each period.
  • Prepare regular reports and present findings at internal sourcing and planning meetings.
  • Utilize inventory and procurement systems including Excel, ERP, and POS software to support analysis, visibility, and reporting.

Compliance & Team Support

  • Support compliance with company sourcing policies, food safety regulations, and internal operational standards.
  • Support training and onboarding of supply and purchasing team members as applicable.
  • Perform additional supply management-related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of this role.
