Job summary

Global Edge Group is seeking a Supplier Quality Representative for an Oil & Gas project. The role involves reviewing supplier requirements, performing quality surveillance, witnessing manufacturing activities, and documenting findings to ensure conformance before shipment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of in-shop quality experience, holds a valid driver's license, can travel to supplier facilities, and can manage documentation with ISO/API/AMPP standards in mind.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

Our team is currently looking for a Supplier Quality Representativefor one of our clients in the Oil & Gas Industry.

Pre-Fabrication & Readiness

• Review procurement and client requirements with suppliers and participate in kickoff/pre-fabrication meetings.
• Confirm inspection and test plans, witness/hold points, documentation, traceability, approved procedures, qualified personnel, calibrated equipment, drawings, and materials are in place before production.

Quality Surveillance & Verification

• Perform quality surveillance in accordance with project plans and procurement requirements.
• Witness and verify key manufacturing activities, including welding, NDE, fit-up/dimensional checks, blasting/coating, pressure and functional testing, FAT, final inspection, and pre-shipment activities.
• Review quality documentation, including material test reports, traceability records, NDE reports, qualifications, calibration records, coating records, and supplier data books.
• Verify sub-suppliers and subcontracted activities are properly disclosed, qualified, and controlled.

Nonconformance & Corrective Action

• Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials or activities using objective evidence and applicable requirements.
• Work with suppliers and project quality teams to develop and verify corrective actions and ensure findings are properly closed.
• Escalate repeat findings, unresolved issues, and adverse quality trends.

Release, Reporting & Schedule

• Release conforming materials for shipment and coordinate with project and functional teams.
• Prepare timely, accurate surveillance reports documenting inspections, observations, findings, and actions.
• Communicate quality and fabrication risks early and coordinate with expediting teams to maintain alignment between quality and schedule.
• Support remote surveillance technologies, including video collaboration, 3D scanning, and model-overlay tools.
• Maintain accurate inspection, assignment, certification, finding, and photographic records in client systems.

Qualifications (Education, Experience & Skills)

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience, including in-shop quality surveillance, inspection, examination, or testing; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to routinely travel to supplier facilities.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required client, facility, and export-control access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision and make defensible conclusions at supplier facilities.
• Strong verbal, written, and technical report-writing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic reporting/tracking systems, and digital inspection tools.
• Quality surveillance or inspection experience with industrial equipment/materials, including:
• Structural steel, piping, valves, and supports
• Pressure vessels, exchangers, tanks, skids, and modules
• Rotating equipment and packaged units
• Electrical and instrumentation equipment
• Protective coatings/linings and concrete products
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, API, and AMPP/SSPC.
• Industry certifications such as ASNT Level II, AWS CWI, AMPP/NACE Coating Inspector, or NPCA.
• Knowledge of quality programs including ISO 9001, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, or NQA-1.
• Experience supporting EPC projects in energy, nuclear, LNG, mining & metals, or major infrastructure.
• Experience with supplier assessments, surveillance planning, requalification, and supplier documentation/data books.
• International supplier experience and/or additional language skills is a plus.
• Ability to safely work in industrial fabrication environments and perform physical inspection activities, including extended standing/walking, climbing, working at elevation, and carrying inspection equipment up to approximately 25 lbs.
• Include all relevant industry certifications on the resume, including issue and expiration dates.
