Job summary

Jabil is seeking a quality/industrial engineering professional with hands-on metal fabrication experience to evaluate supplier capabilities and drive process improvements. You will review drawings, GD&T, and material specs, inspect welded assemblies, and lead corrective actions with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 3+ years in quality or manufacturing, experience in welding, stamping, and laser cutting, and the ability to travel to supplier sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related engineering field.
• 3+ years of quality, manufacturing, or supplier quality experience in metal fabrication.
• Hands-on experience with welding inspection, stamping, and laser cutting.
• Ability to interpret drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, and specs.
• Proficient in dimensional inspection equipment and SPC/MSA fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assess and qualify metal fabrication suppliers (welding, stamping, laser cutting, forming, assembly).
• Conduct supplier process audits of controls, equipment, inspection methods, and quality systems.
• Review drawings and GD&T to identify critical dimensions and functions.
• Inspect welded assemblies for dimensional accuracy and weld quality per drawings.
• Evaluate stamping processes for tooling, burrs, cracks, and springback.
• Assess laser cutting for cut accuracy and edge quality; manage repeatability.
• Develop and review inspection plans, PFMEAs, and process documentation.
• Support PPAP submissions and new product introductions.
• Verify material composition, mechanical properties, and certifications.
• Evaluate coatings and surface finishes against appearance/thickness criteria.
• Lead root cause investigations and CAPA using 8D/5 Whys/fishbone.
• Collaborate with sourcing, engineering, and suppliers to improve quality and delivery.
• Track supplier performance and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
