Job summary

ZF Group in Newton, NC is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to partner with plant personnel, review drawings and supplier PPAPs, and drive containment of supplier quality issues.

You will apply IATF 16949 knowledge, SAP, and PPAP expertise to ensure supplier performance and continuous improvement within the automotive manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required and 2-4+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Lead Auditor experience for IATF 16949.
• Knowledge and hands on experience with AIAG PPAP requirements and submission processes.
• Hands on experience in automotive manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface with plant personnel to resolve chronic supplier issues and verify understanding of process requirements.
• Manage quality control projects related to supplier issues to contain suspect parts from production.
• Review engineering specifications and drawings to ensure suppliers meet requirements.
• Monitor supplier corrective action plans and track supplier ppm.
• Assist purchasing and engineering to resolve Supplier Review and Acceptance issues.
• Review and approve supplier PPAPs.
• Resolve supplier quality issues using a problem‑solving methodology with containment actions.
• Drive internal resources and plant personnel to measure supplier ppm effectively.

Job description

About the Team: The Quality Team in Newton, NC supports the organization by managing and continuously improving the Quality Management System for chassis component product lines, including Cross‑Axis Joints, Ball Joints, Suspension Joints, Control Arms, Stabilizer Link Connections, Tie Rods, and plastic components such as oil pans, baffles, and valves. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this team of four quality engineers partners with leadership to plan, implement, measure, and improve systems aligned with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. The team owns key quality processes such as change management, document control, and the audit program, while ensuring KPIs and risk assessments are effectively used to drive compliance, performance, and continuous improvement.

What you can look forward to as a Supplier Quality Engineer:

• Manages quality control projects related to supplier quality issues within the plant to assure suspect supplier parts are contained from production.
• Reviews engineering specifications and drawings to assure suppliers meet their requirements.
• Monitors suppliers' corrective action plans and tracks supplier ppm's.
• Assists purchasing and engineering to resolve Supplier Review and Acceptance issues.
• Reviews and approves supplier PPAP's.
• Ensures that supplier quality issues are resolved using an appropriate problem-solving methodology. Report on the status of 8Ds and ensure proper containment actions are taken.
• Drive/lead internal resources and plant personnel to drive and track effective and true measurement of supplier ppm.

Your profile as a Supplier Quality Engineer:

• High School Diploma required and 2 - 4+ years of related experience. (Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field preferred).
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Lead Auditor experience for IATF 16949.
• Knowledge and hands on experience with AIAG PPAP requirements and submission processes.
