This role serves as a key technical resource for new product launches, supplier quality issues, and customer‑facing quality concerns, and provides mentorship to junior quality engineers and technicians within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance: Maintain and continuously improve the plant Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and applicable customer‑specific requirements. Lead and support internal, customer, and third‑party quality audits; develop and track corrective action plans to closure. Own and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, and process flow diagrams for assigned product lines, ensuring documentation remains current and audit‑ready. Ensure calibration, gauge R&R, and measurement system analysis (MSA) programs meet required standards.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action activities (8D, 5‑Why, fishbone) for internal nonconformances and customer complaints. Drive containment, disposition, and resolution of nonconforming material in coordination with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain. Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ). Analyze quality data and trends (SPC, defect rates, warranty/field data) to proactively identify and address risk areas.

New Product Launch & APQP: Represent Quality on cross‑functional new product introduction (NPI) teams, ensuring APQP deliverables and PPAP submissions meet customer timing and requirements. Develop inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions for new and revised products prior to launch. Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve design‑for‑manufacturability and quality risks early in the product lifecycle.

Customer & Supplier Quality: Serve as primary quality point of contact for assigned customer accounts, managing complaint response, scorecards, and corrective action communication. Support supplier quality activities including incoming inspection issues, supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), and supplier development as needed. Prepare and present quality performance data to customers and leadership, including PPM, scorecards, and improvement plan status.

Leadership & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to quality engineers, quality technicians, and inspectors. Train production and quality personnel on quality tools, standards, and procedures. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Materials, and EHS to support overall plant performance goals.
