Job summary

IEA Kenosha Plant in Kenosha, WI is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Quality Manager. You will develop the short- and long-term work plans to strengthen the Quality Management System and resolve problems independently.

You will review processes, lead ISO 9001 compliance efforts, support PPAP, and drive continuous improvement in GD&T and measurement systems while collaborating with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience implementing ISO 9001 and updates.
  • APQP/PPAP experience is required or highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and measurement systems.
  • Desirable Six Sigma certification; MBA not required.

Responsibilities

  • Review processes to strengthen the manufacturing process.
  • Lead activities to ensure ISO 9001 compliance; drive corrective actions.
  • Manage supplier corrective actions and PPAP support.
  • Lead continuous improvement in GD&T and measurement systems.
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies and recommend improvements.
  • Serve as ISO Quality Systems liaison with customers and suppliers.
  • Be a member of the Internal Audit Team.
  • Develop calibration systems and evaluate non-conforming products.
  • Uphold a positive, discrimination-free workplace; perform other duties as needed.

Job DetailsJob Location: IEA Kenosha Plant - Kenosha, WI 53144Job Summary: The Quality Engineer (QE) receives directions from the Quality Manager on a daily operational basis. The Quality Engineer develops their own work plans on both a short- and long-term basis to meet the goals of the Quality Management System and resolves many problems independently.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review company processes for improvements to strength the manufacturing process.
  • Assist in the evaluation of current practices and determine level of compliance to the ISO 9001 standard. If less than full compliance is identified, assist, or lead the effort to implement change to full compliance while reducing “waste” in the process.
  • Leads corrective action activities due to internal and external nonconformance including management of supplier corrective actions.
  • Supports the PPAP process.
  • Leads continuous improvement in GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of a variety of measurement tools used in manufacturing quality systems.
  • Perform Gage R&R studies to identify the need for measurement system improvement, recommend improved measurement systems, and prove their effectiveness prior to implementation.
  • A knowledgeable resource for the ISO Quality Systems requirements and can function as a liaison with internal and external customers, suppliers, and others.
  • Member of our Internal Audit Team
  • Development of calibration systems.
  • Evaluate incoming non-conforming products for use in production or return to the supplier.
  • Maintains a positive, discrimination-free workplace for all employees.

Key skills, abilities, and knowledge:
  • Knowledge of quality practices and procedures including metrics and statistical analyses.
  • Ability to review and improve industry processes in thermal cooling.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T processes.
  • Ability to communicate (oral/written).
  • Clear understanding of the ISO standard system.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, etc.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct multiple work activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret field documents, shop drawings and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts preferably.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Licenses, etc.: Driver’s license
QualificationsAttributes:
  • Experience in the Automotive Industry that includes APQP/PPAP.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer theory and radiator assembly and construction desired.
  • Experiential: Five or more years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including maintenance and implementation of ISO 9001 and updates thereof.
  • Required Education: Engineering degree (Industrial or Mechanical) or a related field
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt desirable.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is desirable. An MBA is desirable.
Physical Demands:
  • Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 75 (infrequently).
  • Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 150 (with assistance).
  • Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting upper body, or climbing.
  • Working at heights off the ground up to 25 feet.
  • Vision requirements: Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
  • Willing to travel to customers, if necessary. This may include overnight stays.

Work Environment:
  • Work location(s): Office; metal fabrication/assembly shop; field visits to customer sites including domestic/international travel.
  • Exposure to light exposure potential to fumes, airborne particles, wet/humid (non-weather) conditions, toxic/caustic chemicals, medium exposure to moving mechanical parts/equipment when in shop areas.
  • Personal protective equipment requirement: Safety glasses and safety toe shoes when in shop areas. Additional equipment as per job site/length of stay requirements
