Job summary

Base is building a global supplier industrialization function to scale battery systems. This role leads a team of Supplier Development Engineers and partners with suppliers to drive cost, quality, and throughput as we move from prototyping to mass production.

You will own process design reviews, supplier qualification, and capacity mapping while traveling to sites and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related field.
7+ years in supplier industrialization, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering.
2+ years leading engineering teams.
Knowledge of injection molding, CNC machining, PCB/PCBA, stamping, and assembly techniques.
Experience in manufacturing line design and capital costs.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
Strong cross-functional collaboration with suppliers.
Willingness to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of Supplier Industrialization Engineers.
Ramp supplier lines from prototyping to full-scale production.
Size-up suppliers to evaluate long-term fit.
Collaborate with suppliers to design and optimize manufacturing processes.
Support supplier qualification, auditing facilities and processes.
Contribute to design-for-manufacturability reviews as the supplier representative.
Map out supplier manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks.
Evaluate the should-cost of supplier manufacturing strategies.
