Parker Aerospace, Exotic Metals Forming Division in Kent, WA, seeks a Supplier Development Engineer to drive supplier performance with cost-reduction initiatives, audits, and quality improvements. You will collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and KPIs.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 4 years in supplier development, strong analytical skills, PPAP experience, and the ability to travel up to 50%

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years supplier development experience.
• Analytical and technical skills to understand business practices.
• Advanced computer skills and ability to understand electronic processing.
• Experience with PPAP and Quality System Improvements in the supply base.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Innovator with Lean Enterprise principles and practices.
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost reduction projects through supplier continuous improvement activities.
• Utilize structured problem solving to resolve chronic part shortages.
• Lead supplier site audits and coordinate audits with cross-functional teams.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
• Lead work transfer projects from inception through full transition.
• Initiate vendor quality management and process improvements including evaluating process capability, tracking delivery, output, and reporting of supplier performance.

SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Position Summary

The Supplier Development Engineer will facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and problem resolution of quality issues / opportunities with suppliers and monitor suppliers’ performance against contractual obligations, scorecards, and key performance indicators. Will approve suppliers recommended by Procurement / Supply Chain Team.

Responsibilities

• Will lead cost reduction projects through supplier continuous improvement activities
• Utilize structure problem solving to resolve chronic part shortages
• Responsible for leading supplier site audits and/or coordinate supplier audits with a cross functional team to determine appropriateness and quality of supplier’s product
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of time
• Responsible for leading work transfer projects from inception through full transition
• Will initiate vendor quality management and process improvements including evaluating process capability, tracking delivery, output, and reporting of supplier performance including pHConnect metrics.
• Collaborates with the business unit or division to establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on evaluations of supplier price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations

Qualifications

• EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field of study
• YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 years supplier development experience
• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices
• Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing
• Must have experience with PPAP and Quality System Improvements in the supply base
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
• Must be an innovator and embrace Lean Enterprise principles and practices
• Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once. Overnight long-distance travel may be required, based on the individual needs of the position.

• Pay Range: $84,915 to $141,320 annually
