The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant at the EKHCS Leavenworth Campus. This role involves providing administrative support, managing medical support staff, and ensuring quality patient care across various clinical services. Ideal candidates will have experience leading teams and possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA), located in the Health Administration Section of the Business Office, provides administrative and clerical support functions in the Health Administration Service (HAS) for inpatient wards and outpatient clinics at the EKHCS Leavenworth Campus, supporting a broad range of clinical services.

Basic Requirements:
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience involving leading or supervising other medical support administrative staff or equivalent administrative patient support staff in a non-VA medical inpatient, outpatient, or interdisciplinary setting.
Supervisory Medical Support Assistant, GS-8
In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must demonstrate the following KSAs. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level leading or supervising MSAs or equivalent administrative patient support staff in a non-VA medical inpatient, outpatient, or interdisciplinary setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
The Supervisory MSA position is primarily sedentary, requiring prolonged sitting and typing. It requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear speech, and manual dexterity. The position may involve long periods of sitting and occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds. Staff may rarely be exposed to potentially combative Veterans due to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
