Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Warehouse will lead a team of Associates to meet deliverables, work within processes including OSHA regulations, and achieve team, department, and enterprise goals. The role involves working in an open warehouse environment and cooler/freezer to move food products, combining leadership and general labor. The focus is on mentoring, training, and managing team performance.
The warehouse operates on a staggered shift schedule, with potential overtime, evenings, and weekends. Shifts typically are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 11 AM to 7 PM, or 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Supervisors will manage scheduling and support staffing needs based on volume.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage team resources, including work planning, attendance, performance, training, and staffing.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and certify others in their use.
- Provide high-level customer service and professional communication with customers, volunteers, and agency personnel.
- Track and report warehouse activity, inventory status, quality control, and staff performance.
- Establish and implement practices for picking, staging, loading, and shipping orders.
- Maintain warehouse health and efficiency, including safety standards, food handling (Serve Safe), and collaboration with internal/external customers.
- Identify and develop solutions for problems, and drive process improvements and innovation.
- Use reporting tools to monitor metrics and performance.
- Ensure proper use of tools for product movement and time tracking.
- Support Philabundance’s cultural pillars of People, Professionalism, Partnerships, and Progress.
Additional Duties:
- Guide Associates on safety and processes to ensure effective shipping and receiving.
- Collaborate with Inventory and Quality Control teams.
- Ensure accurate inventory tracking in real-time systems.
Note: This role requires passing a drug test and background check. Light travel may be required. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are necessary if using company vehicles.
Educational Achievement:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; extended education in logistics, business, or warehouse management is a plus.
- Serve Safe Certification preferred, must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Forklift Certification highly preferred, to be secured within 30 days, and capable of certifying others.
Work Experience:
- At least 3 years of heavy equipment experience, preferably in grocery or food industry.
- Experience handling escalations, providing solutions, and leading teams.
- Warehouse experience with forklift, pallet jacks, and equipment for moving products.
- Experience with operating systems, following instructions, and tracking processes.
Preferred:
- Leadership experience influencing team performance and goals.
- Experience with automated inventory systems and database management.
- Experience handling food products, including frozen, fresh, or shelf-stored goods.
- Inventory, shipping/receiving expertise.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, including pallet jacks and reach trucks.
- Train and certify others in forklift use.
- Resolve escalations and provide solutions aligned with organizational practices.
- Read, write, and perform basic math for inventory and tracking.
- Work in variable temperature environments, including freezers.
- Use email, databases, and learn new technical skills.
- Move objects up to 50 pounds safely.
- Follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of OSHA, safety standards, and inventory management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database reporting, and virtual communication tools.
- Experience managing complex processes and basic management tasks.
- Understanding of delivery standards and quality requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record for vehicle operation.
- Physical ability to perform tasks including bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work in cold temperatures and variable environments.
- Operate pallet jacks and manage package handling at heights.
- Follow safety protocols and meet OSHA requirements.
- Maintain work pace and meet deadlines.
- Use cognitive skills for problem-solving, following routines, and prioritizing tasks.
