Regional One Health seeks a Trauma Registry Analyst Supervisor to lead data collection, coding and reporting for trauma cases that meet inclusion criteria. You will supervise registry staff, ensure ICD-10 and AIS accuracy, and coordinate data submissions to end users and registries in a multi-state setting.

Role requires an undergraduate HIM degree, Trauma Registry training, ICD-10 and AIS knowledge, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Completion of an approved 8 hour Trauma Registry course is required.
  • Current ICD-10 course or refresher within 5 years.
  • CSTR and CAISS certifications within specified timeframes.
  • RHIT preferred; other HIM credentials may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee trauma registry data collection, abstraction, coding and reporting.
  • Ensure ICD-10 and AIS coding accuracy and timely submissions to registries.
  • Maintain data integrity, backups, and data dictionary updates.
  • Coordinate with hospital staff and external sources for data quality and PRQ prep.
  • Lead workflow optimization and oversee staff with performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and iRESPECT standards.

Job description

A Brief OverviewThis role leads the Trauma Registry Analyst team and oversees the accurate collection, abstraction, coding,analysis, and reporting of clinical data for all trauma records that meet inclusion criteria. The supervisor ensuresrecords are coded accurately using ICD-10 and AIS standards and that required data are organized, validated,and submitted to authorized end users and third-party registries. This role supports the Level I Trauma Center'sdesignations in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas; American College of Surgeons verification; andparticipation in the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) byensuring timely submissions during each call-for-data period. The supervisor models behavior consistent withRegional One Health's vision statement.What you will do• Participates, in conjunction with the Trauma Registry Analyst, in directing and performing all functionsrelated to maintaining the trauma registry database, including the identification of trauma patients,collection of data from multiple electronic sources and medical records, and accurate data entry.• Reviews medical records and charts as part of Inter Rater Reliability (IRR) audits to accurately abstractand record registry data, ensuring compliance with established registry standards and guidelines.• Maintains accuracy of the trauma database through validation, hardware and software maintenance andupgrades, data dictionary changes and regular backups.• Protects and maintains confidentiality of patient data maintained within the registry. Release registryinformation only to authorized persons, in accordance with departmental policies, HIPAA/ compliancepolicies and procedures.• Ensures trauma registry analysts meet all data collection and submission requirements in accordancewith State and National Trauma Databank standards and reporting guidelines.• Directs daily workflow processes while continually assessing workflow procedures for maximumefficiency.• Leads the strategic planning and implementation of new or revised information technology, includingimport functions, interfacing tools, application systems, and automation for the trauma database.• Supervises the day to day activities of assigned Trauma Registry staff to include participation inperformance reviews in collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager.• Confers and work collaboratively with medical/hospital staff, HIM department, EMS services, referringfacilities and other external data sources in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promotingpatient/customer satisfaction to implement registry activities.• Coordinates all trauma registry database related responsibilities during a trauma centerdesignation/verification visit. Includes participation in PRQ preparation, chart selection, and chartpreparation.• Functions as a regional, state and national resource in the management of a trauma database and alsoparticipates in collaborative State projects. Maintains personally required CEUs for certifications annuallyas required by ACS and or states.
