Tampa Electric Company is seeking a Supervisor Security Officer to oversee armed security operations across TECO sites in Brandon, FL. You will lead a team, coordinate patrols, and ensure protection of critical infrastructure and personnel.
The role requires 5+ years of armed security or related experience, 2 years in a supervisory role, a Florida Class G license, and a high school diploma; preferred are further criminal justice qualifications and security certifications.

The Security Guard serves as an armed supervisor responsible for overseeing and conducting armed security patrols at critical energy infrastructure sites. Ensures the safety and security of team members, assets, and operations through vigilant monitoring, rapid response, and adherence to established security protocols. Leads a team of security team members, coordinates patrol schedules and serves as the primary point of contact for security-related incidents.
Required: Must possess a Class “G” license (Security Guard License) under Florida State Statutes 493 and 790 and must demonstrate a 90% or greater proficiency with the assigned weapons system or achieve within 30 days of appointment. Firearms training and demonstrated proficiency.
Preferred: Valid armed security guard license; CPR/First Aid; FEMA ICS/NIMS training.
Required: 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
Required: 5 years of armed security, law enforcement or military experience.
Outdoor and indoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Standing, walking, and driving for extended periods.
Exposure to high‑risk environments requiring vigilance and readiness.
