Job description

Oversees and maintains the flow and balance of work in the Security Department. Responsible for providing leadership, direction, and a working environment that promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction, and for ensuring that the standards of service are met for the Security department in a manner consistent with SMC's/EDM's mission, vision, and values.

Persons holding this position must be able to perform all of the duties and functions of a Security Officer, including initial incident response, interviewing, and investigations. This position may be required to work on multiple campuses and shifts. Acts as a resource and expert in Security matters for other departments or individuals and in committees.

Assess staff performance and conduct annual reviews, maintain time and attendance as well as staff performance records. Promote the professional development of staff through training, guidance, and coaching, as well as ongoing observation and assessment of staff performance.

Be an effective steward of SMC/EDM resources by keeping within financial and labor budgets, identifying opportunities for savings, and recommending capital investments to improve operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

1. Associate's Degree or equivalent education/experience, or two years of related training and experience, preferably in healthcare security.
2. FEMA Level 100 or higher certification upon hire.
3. Driving may be necessary; caregivers must comply with all state laws and requirements for driving and provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Basic Security Officer Certification and Supervisory Development Certification through the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety upon hire.
2. Two years of related experience and/or training, preferably in Healthcare Security and Safety.
