Entergy is seeking a Supervisory Relay Design Engineer in the New Orleans area to lead engineering design activities for relay systems. You will supervise engineers, coordinate studies, estimates and construction specifications to ensure projects meet schedules, budgets, and standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with Grid, Distribution and Project Development teams, with a focus on reliable power delivery and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • At least 7 years of leadership experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of relay design practices, standards and processes.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of relay design engineers, providing coaching and technical guidance.
  • Plan resource levels and assign staff and contractors to meet workloads.
  • Coordinate with Grid/Distribution/Project Development teams for design studies and estimates.

Job Summary/Purpose

Provides leadership for the engineering design activities within Relay Design. The position supervises employees who prepare estimates, project scopes, technical drawings, construction specifications, material specifications & requisitions, and complete as-built documentation. The supervisor ensures that projects achieve stated objectives, are implemented in accordance with regulatory requirements & company standards, meet established schedules, and are completed within approved authorizations & budgets.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provides direct supervision to an engineering staff of relay design engineers, including coaching, training, effective resource management, providing technical guidance, and quality assurance.
  • Evaluates the resource levels required for current and future workloads; Assigns company and contractor staff to accomplish effectively; Manages consultants, which includes scope preparation, bid evaluation, cost tracking, invoice approval and processing, and release order preparation.
  • Actively participates on several jurisdictional teams of supervisors with other functional area supervisors to enhance communication and coordination within the project organization.
  • Serves as the primary contact for the Grids, Distribution, and Project Development for design evaluations, proposals and estimates for studies, customer requests, maintenance, and potential projects.
  • Supports the development, maintenance, and implementation of relay design standards.
  • Responds to relay related regulatory and compliance issues.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Minimum Experience Required Of The Position

Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with proven leadership capabilities.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required Of The Position

Extensive knowledge of relay design practices, standards, procedures, and processes; Thorough understanding of design, planning, project management, operations, and/or construction. Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of moving frequently between multiple tasks, while prioritizing conflicting priorities. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company. Strong analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; team player. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.

Certificates, Licenses, etc. required of the position

Professional Engineering license desired (will vary state by state on requirements; higher management having PE could eliminate the need at lower level).
