Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha is seeking a Supervisor Radiation Therapy Proton to lead the Radiation Oncology team at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. This role oversees day-to-day patient care operations, mentors staff, and ensures high-quality treatment delivery in a fast-paced oncology setting.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years Radiation Therapist experience, Nebraska licensure, ARRT, and BLS, with strong leadership and staffing skills. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years Radiation Therapist experience.
  • 2+ years leading or mentoring staff and setting priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or related field OR equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be detail-oriented.
  • Experience developing and implementing staffing schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving and sound judgment in complex situations.
  • Holiday and/or weekend availability may be required.
  • Nebraska radiologic technologist license current.
  • ARRT registration in good standing.
  • BLS certification from an AHA-endorsed program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day patient care operations in Radiation Oncology.
  • Mentor and train staff on technical skills and best practices.
  • Set daily priorities for the work group and guide non-routine issues.

Supervisor Radiation Therapy Proton Description:

Serve on the leadership team as a supervisor for Radiation Oncology by overseeing all aspects of day-to-day patient care operations. Partner closely with colleagues to serve as a clinical expert, regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and complete performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years recent Radiation Therapist experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as a clinical expert for a group of employees, regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and provide input on performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or related field OR equivalent combination of education/experience combined (One year of experience equals one year of education) required.
  • Ability to exhibit strong leadership, strong planning and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity/innovation and be attentive to detail required.
  • Experience with developing and implementing staffing schedules required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to problem solve and exhibit strong judgment skills in a well-thought out and timely fashion and determine appropriate course of action in significantly complex situations required.
  • May be required to work holiday and/or weekends.
  • Currently licensed as a radiological technologist by the state of Nebraska required.
  • Registered radiological technologist in good standing with state and federal accrediting bodies (ARRT) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis and interpretation preferred.
  • Master's degree in business or related health care field preferred.
  • Management OR leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
