Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Supervisor to lead the teams ensuring a smooth, accurate, and welcoming patient experience. You will oversee daily operations, coach colleagues, resolve escalations, and drive improvements across registration and scheduling in Ambulatory Clinics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of customer service experience required.
  • Experience as an operational expert for a group of employees and training staff.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills required.
  • Independent work ability, creativity and attention to detail required.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy.
  • BLS certification within six months of hire/transfer date.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on the leadership team, oversee day-to-day Patient Access Operations.
  • Mentor and train staff on technical skills and daily priorities.
  • Coordinate staffing and operations for registration and scheduling areas.
  • Provide guidance to ACCESS team members and enterprise clinics.
  • Analyze workflows and recommend improvements; support on/off-site management.

Patient Access Supervisor

Join Nebraska Medicine as a Patient Access Supervisor and lead the teams responsible for creating a smooth, accurate and welcoming experience for our patients. In this working supervisor role, you will support daily operations, coach and develop colleagues, resolve escalated concerns and help improve workflows across registration and scheduling services.

This is an opportunity for an experienced customer service or patient access professional who is ready to lead people, make operational decisions and contribute to the continued improvement of the patient experience.

Shift Details:
  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Second shift
  • On-call rotation for weekends and holidays

Serve on the leadership team as a shift supervisor for the designated operation by overseeing all aspects of day-to-day Patient Access Operations. Partner closely with colleagues to serve as an Access expert, regularly model/mentor and train colleagues on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for the work group, provide guidance to an/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues and complete performance appraisals and/or disciplinary actions. Coordinate staffing and operations for registration and scheduling areas within Ambulatory Clinics, procedural areas and ACCESS services. Support on and off site management of services. Provide guidance for ACCESS team members, enterprise clinics, and decentralized registration areas by creating a positive work environment to maintain patient and employee satisfaction. Provide operations oversight, analysis, training, troubleshooting and analysis of resource requirements. Provide support to operations by assessing work flows and making recommendations for improvement. Must work in production as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of customer service experience required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience to include the majority of the following: serve as an operational expert for a group of employees, regularly model/mentor and train employees on technical skills, make decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group, provide guidance to and/or assist staff on non-routine or escalated issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education/experience combined required (One year of education equals one year of experience.)
  • Ability to exhibit strong leadership, strong planning and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity/innovation and be attentive to detail required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and exhibit strong judgment skills in a well-thought out and timely fashion and determine appropriate course of action in significantly complex situations required.
  • Based on department, may be required to work holiday and/or weekends.
  • Expert knowledge in computer based applications, specifically Microsoft products including Excel and Word required.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and direct staff required.
  • Ability to type 45 words per minute with 95% accuracy required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire or transfer date for employees working in hospital environment required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital patient registration preferred.
  • Experience with hospital revenue cycle preferred.
  • Experience leading staff in a 24 hour 7 day a week operation preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare business or project management preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft ACCESS preferred.
