Job summary

Leonardo DRS in West Plains, MO is seeking a Quality Supervisor to lead a team of technicians and inspectors within a program, commodity, or quality system process. You will promote proactive quality improvement, oversee budgets and schedules, and work with manufacturing and engineering to meet customer standards.

This role requires a strong background in quality tools, ISO standards, and Six Sigma, with the ability to read blueprints and drive root-cause analysis for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related technical field with at least 2 years of experience.
  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred; familiar with ISO standards and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand military specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of quality technicians and inspectors for a program, commodity, or quality system process.
  • Promote proactive quality improvement techniques in lieu of traditional inspection activities.
  • Supervise technicians and inspectors independently and manage budget, cost, and schedule input.
  • Develop recommendations to increase product reliability and reduce field failures.
  • Ensure products are inspected and tested prior to shipment.
  • Establish quality plans, procedures, and implementation on the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead quality control activities and report on quality metrics.

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising a team of technicians and inspectors independently
  • Assist in managing budget, cost, and schedule input for quality assignments
  • Develop recommendations for improvements that increase product uniformity and reliability and improves quality characteristics to reduce field failures and issues
  • Ensure that products are inspected and tested as required prior to shipment
  • Assist in developing and initiate methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation
  • Establish quality control programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities
  • Direct quality control workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating quality and reliability data
  • Prepare quality control reports, requirements, etc, in response to request for proposals, quotes, brochures,
  • Review quality control program plans and inspection plans submitted for approval
  • Work with Facility / Manufacturing Managers in establishing quality plans, procedures, and implementation on the manufacturing floor
  • Develop short- and long-range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to identify and resolve systematic and incidental quality problems
  • Develop and implement a systematic and effective process to investigate and resolve customer concerns and issues, and to ensure mutually beneficial and collaborative actions to maintain product quality
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
  • Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors
  • Participate in special projects and performs other related work as assigned
  • Participate on teams for new product development as directed
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of quality and process improvement
  • May serve as liaison with customers on items of product quality or reliability
  • Visit customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality issues
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
  • Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
