Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Pulmonary Physiology Lab Technologist Supervisor oversees all certifications, licensure, and duties of the Pulmonary Physiology Lab Technologist. They serve as a resource for all disciplines within the Pulmonary Physiology Lab (PPL). This role involves developing and implementing staff competencies, providing education, supervision, and conducting performance appraisals. The supervisor communicates regularly with departmental leadership and contributes to monthly departmental meetings. This position supports Eskenazi Health’s mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve, with a focus on the vulnerable population of Marion County.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provides input for performance appraisals of Pulmonary Physiology Lab employees.
  • Supervises Pulmonary Physiology Lab technologists in coordination with departmental leadership, making decisions and handling personnel issues (supervision, discipline, hiring, etc.), and addressing patient concerns/questions regarding clinic and Eskenazi Health.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings to provide updates, standardize procedures and protocols, and exchange information.
  • Performs monthly rounding on PPL employees.
  • Orders and maintains supplies for the assigned area.
  • Provides quarterly journal articles to staff for continuing education.
  • Maintains documentation of all communications.
  • Develops and implements staff competencies and education programs in collaboration with departmental leadership.
  • Assists in the development of staff in-services.
  • Participates in PI/QA activities for the Pulmonary Physiology Lab.
  • Serves as a resource to coworkers and all disciplines within the organization.
  • Calibrates, troubleshoots, maintains, and utilizes all equipment in the assigned areas.
  • Provides patient education as needed.
  • Ensures testing is completed with quality in accordance with ATS standards.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Continuously monitors patient scheduling to optimize throughput.
Job Requirements
  • Graduate from an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program with at least an Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Indiana.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) by the NBRC.
  • Current ALS or ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
