Job Description: Production Supervisor

Overview: Leads an assigned production team to achieve goals and problem solve while demonstrating a commitment to employee safety, teamwork, and product quality. Responsible for product processing, packaging, and storage in compliance with FDA, USDA, and Simmons rules and regulations.

Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.

1. Team Leadership: Leads a team of front-line employees, effectively communicates, motivates, and supervises to maintain discipline, teamwork, and safety. Manages scheduling, attendance, and time-off approvals, and evaluates personnel performance.
2. Operational Supervision: Coordinates activities of workers engaged in processing or development, maintains inventory records, requisitions supplies, evaluates materials, and collaborates with other departments.
3. Production Management: Reviews production reports, manages throughput and yield, ensures quality products, and maintains documentation in accordance with company policies.
4. Safety and Compliance: Promotes and ensures a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and regulations set by Simmons, OSHA, and other agencies.
5. Continuous Improvement: Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, applies LEAN principles, and drives process improvements to reduce waste and enhance quality.
6. Communication: Collaborates across departments to meet production goals, ensuring high-quality output at optimal costs.
7. Employee Management: Supervises staff, participates in hiring, administers discipline, recommends performance-based decisions, and promotes a positive working environment.
8. Team Participation: Engages in team development, communication, and policy implementation, fostering cohesion and organizational synergy.
9. System Knowledge: Understands Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and LEAN principles, and supports these systems through responsible actions.
10. Additional Duties: Performs other tasks as needed to support business objectives, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

Physical Activities: Computer use, visual verification, communication, working in various temperatures, and movement within a manufacturing environment.

PPE: As required by the facility.

Travel: May include travel to other local facilities.

Technical Experience: Leadership skills, proficiency in English, knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.

Industry Experience: Preferred experience in food processing.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or 4 years related work experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
