Job summary

Default Brand is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee the transformation of raw materials into finished goods and packaging within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will supervise production employees and temporary staff, ensure safe and efficient operations, and enforce quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing/packaging environment preferred.
  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Basic math and computer skills, including Excel and timekeeping/ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with quality control processes and maintaining compliance with customer standards.

Responsibilities

  • Executes the daily production schedule during the assigned shift to meet output goals and customer requirements.
  • Communicates with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations.
  • Oversees the flow of raw materials and finished goods between the production floor and shipping.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory records and investigates discrepancies.
  • Coordinates staging and distribution of components for production and packaging.
  • Delegates work orders to appropriate work centers and oversees timely execution.
  • Supervises shift personnel, monitors attendance, and maintains timekeeping.
  • Trains and supports production employees to meet performance, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Identifies and supports initiatives to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborates on cross-functional projects and supports departmental goals.

Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the transformation of raw materials into finished goods and the packaging of all products in accordance with company and customer requirements. This role supervises production employees and temporary staff during an assigned shift, with the number of direct reports varying based on staffing needs. The Production Supervisor ensures safe and efficient operations, effective shift execution, and strict adherence to quality and production standards within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning & Scheduling
  • Executes the daily production schedule during the assigned shift to meet output goals and customer requirements.
  • Communicates with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of operations.
Production & Inventory Oversight
  • Oversees the flow of raw materials and finished goods between the production floor and shipping, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory records, investigates discrepancies, and reports issues as needed.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Coordinates the staging and distribution of components required for production and packaging.
  • Delegates work orders to appropriate work centers and oversees timely and accurate execution.
  • Supervises shift personnel, monitors attendance, tracks unscheduled hours, and ensures proper timekeeping practices.
  • Enters and maintains attendance records in the system and follows up on absences.
  • Trains and supports production employees to meet performance, safety, and quality expectations.
Process Improvement & Projects
  • Identifies and supports initiatives that improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance sustainability efforts.
  • Collaborates on cross-functional projects and supports departmental goals.
  • Assists with additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, packaging, or related environment preferred
  • Experience working in a 24/7 manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices (e.g., OSHA)
  • Possesses basic math and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with timekeeping or ERP systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze production data and use metrics to drive improvements
  • Effective conflict resolution and employee relations skills
  • Ability to read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and technical documents
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required
  • Experience with quality control processes and maintaining compliance with customer standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to occasionally carry, push or pull objects weighing up to and including 35 pounds
  • Ability to ambulate or stand eight hours a day
  • Frequent use of upper extremities to perform keyboard functions and work on a computer
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack
