Job summary

AMR is hiring an Operations Supervisor to lead EMS field operations and supervision, ensuring high-quality patient care and cost-effective services. This full-time role involves overseeing field staff, coordinating with partners, and working 24-hour shifts to support round-the-clock EMS delivery.

The selected candidate will mentor staff, manage scheduling and equipment, investigate incidents, and drive policy implementation.

Qualifications

  • EMS field experience required.
  • Past EMS supervisory experience.
  • Field Training Officer or Instructor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation of field staff.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital representatives, and other applicable personnel.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, provide disciplinary actions, and facilitate development.
  • Work with management to minimize problems, correct staffing and scheduling issues, and improve service.
  • Develop, modify, and implement EMS delivery policies, standards, regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain staffing levels for field units and manage shift calendars.
  • Supervise operation, utilization and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Investigate incidents and resolve them effectively.
  • Prepare reports and manage projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Ensure payroll processing is timely.
  • Assist with recruitment and training of new employees.
  • Promote affirmative action in staffing, training, and promotion.
  • Comply with laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

The operations supervisor is the first line of support and supervision over the actual delivery of care and transport service for the operating division. The primary responsibility of the operations supervisor is to direct and support field personnel to ensure cost-effective, professional delivery of service and care to customers/patients. This position is off the truck and works 24-hour shifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:
  • Support quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation of field staff.
  • Act as a liaison between the company and its patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital representatives, and other applicable personnel.
  • Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and facilitate individual and team development to drive positive results.
  • Work with other members of the management and supervisory team to minimize problems, correct staffing and scheduling issues, and continuously improve service.
  • Participate in the development, formulation, modification, and implementation of department policies, standards, regulations, and general operating guidelines and procedures associated with EMS delivery.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels for field units, manage shift calendars, and cover open shifts with appropriate employee assignments.
  • Supervise the effective operation, utilization, and maintenance of medical apparatus and equipment.
  • Thoroughly investigate incidents and complaints involving assigned units or personnel and resolve them in the best manner possible.
  • Prepare reports and manage projects as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or Administrative Supervisor.
  • Assure that all necessary payroll is properly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist with and engage in the recruitment and training of new employees.
  • Champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, and promotion
  • Comply with and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EMS Field Experience

  • Past EMS supervisory experience
  • Field Training Officer experience or Instructor experience:
Education/Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • State Paramedic or EMT Certification
  • State Driver’s License
  • Driving record compliant with company policy
  • Pass Physical Agility Test
  • BLS, ACLS, CPR Card (American Heart Association only—AHA)
