An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Training Supervisor to lead the recruitment and training of correctional officers. This role involves developing and administering comprehensive training programs, evaluating their effectiveness, and ensuring that all training materials are up-to-date and relevant. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To plan, develop, administer, and provide technical supervision for programs that recruit and train correctional officers, orient new employees, and conduct in-service training for correctional officers, along with related duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the administrative supervision of a superior, with broad latitude for applying training methods and techniques; work is reviewed for results.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Plans, organizes, supervises, and reviews the work of personnel assisting in training programs.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND CAPACITIES: Thorough knowledge of adult correctional and custodial practices, training methods, and ability to develop and supervise training programs, manuals, and instructional materials. Skills in conducting needs assessments, developing curricula, and supervising training staff. Capable of developing specialized training on firearms and physical defense, and interpreting training effectiveness.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a recognized college with a major in Education, Human Development, or Criminal Justice, and experience in training correctional personnel, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification of physical fitness after a medical exam; reasonable accommodations considered for disabilities; medical exam post-offer per ADA rules. Preferred qualifications include a major in Education, Human Development, or Criminal Justice, graduation from a correctional training academy, and experience as a correctional officer trainer, including curriculum development and training program management.
