Mansfield Energy is looking for a Supervisor, LTL Operations to lead a team of Procurement and Logistics Analysts. You will drive carrier bid strategy, monitor bid SLA adherence, and ensure timely dispatch confirmations while coordinating cross-functional workflows and rapid response activities.

You will mentor analysts, manage coverage across shifts, and escalate complex pricing and capacity issues to management. This is a full-time, hybrid position supporting nationwide carrier operations.

Job description

The Supervisor, LTL Operations leads a team of Procurement Analysts and Logistics Analysts responsible for supporting carrier procurement, dispatch execution, and service delivery. This role manages and optimizes daily workflow, reinforces service expectations for timely bid responses and dispatch confirmations, and supports smooth handoffs between procurement and logistics activities. The Supervisor also coordinates urgent response needs, supports team training and cross-functional coverage, and escalates complex pricing, capacity, and carrier-related issues to management as needed.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Coverage

• Supervise assigned Procurement Analysts and Logistics Analysts, setting daily priorities and coverage across supported shifts and regions.
• Balance queues, shift schedules, and time-off approvals so bid and dispatch work is absorbed through volume spikes, absences, and seasonal peaks.
• Coach analysts through one-on-one meetings, live work review, and documented feedback, and track progression against a cross-training plan spanning procurement and dispatch.
• Hire, onboard, and train new analysts, assign mentors and verifying role readiness before independent queue ownership.
• Administer goal setting, feedback, corrective action, and development planning for direct reports in partnership with the Manager.

Procurement Leadership

• Direct carrier bid strategy and assign complex, high-profile bids, weighing price, service quality, and long-term partnership value against carrier GM$/hr targets by service type and market.
• Monitor Bid SLA adherence so bid requests and rate quotes return within 5 business days and intervene on aging requests.
• Approve negotiated freight rates within supervisory thresholds and route above-threshold pricing to the Manager.
• Serve as first carrier commercial escalation for rate disputes, pricing and contract invoice discrepancies, and service failures.
• Participate in quarterly business reviews with Top 25 delivery partners and prepare the supporting performance materials.
• Validate carrier contract setup, maintain accurate bid and rate information, and coordinate onboarding requirements for carrier partners that help address nationwide coverage needs.

Logistics and Dispatch Leadership

• Oversee order creation, dispatch, monitoring, and confirmation to same-day dispatch confirmation closure, using operational reports and dashboards to direct coverage.
• Direct exception recovery for cross-drop issues, delivery visibility gaps, and in-flight service disruptions until the order is recovered.
• Hold the team to vendor master integrity across new vendor setups, onboarding documentation, default and awarded vendor status, and vendor contacts.
• Review daily freight discrepancy resolution so invoice discrepancies close and vendor payment and customer billing stay accurate.
• Audit dispatch documentation and data entry work and drive corrective action where results fall short.
• Review freight sales analysis, root cause findings, and corrective actions from the Logistics Analysts before they reach the Manager.

Cross-Functional Handoff Ownership

• Manages the transition from Procurement to Logistics so carrier coverage, rate details, and vendor setup information are complete, accurate, and ready for execution without unnecessary rework.
• Coordinate Rapid Response activities by clearly assigning, transitioning, and reconciling pricing, vendor setup, and dispatch responsibilities with Procurement as operational needs change.
• Coordinate daily with peer supervisors, functional specialists, and Sales Representatives to resolve priority conflicts at the front line.
• Confirm and optimize business rules, onboarding steps, and blended team coverage readiness before a new customer goes live.

Exception Escalation and Performance Input

• Triage analyst exceptions, resolve those within supervisory authority, and elevate unresolved capacity, pricing, and carrier commercial issues to the Manager with a recommendation.
• Maintain a clear escalation path for nights, weekends, and high-volume periods, and communicate service-impacting issues until resolution closes back to the customer or Sales Representative.
• Provide input on carrier performance, cost trends, and service results to support operational reviews and carrier performance evaluations.
• Document recurring exception themes and recommend improvements that reduce handoff friction, rework, and cycle time.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, preferred.
• Supervisory, leadership, or transportation industry training or certification preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

• Three or more years in Procurement, Logistics or Dispatch, or Carrier Relations.
• One year of formal or informal team lead experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of carrier relations, rate negotiation, and dispatch execution.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Four years of business-to-business experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the LTL, DEF, and Fuel All specialty product lines and petroleum industry experience preferred.

Qualifications & Characteristics

• Balances competing queues under time pressure while holding the team to data accuracy and documentation standards.
• Communicates clearly with analysts, Carriers, Sales Representatives, and leadership.
• Judges when to resolve an exception at the front line and when to elevate to the Manager, staying effective during disruptions and emergency activations.
• Proven track record negotiating freight rates and supporting cost savings initiatives preferred.

Work Environment

• This is a full-time position. Work hours will vary depending on deadlines and the company's needs. Typical workweeks exceed the standard 40 hours. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
• Eligibility for the hybrid work week (3 days in office and 2 days remote) begins after completion of training.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time to perform office work.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
• Travel as required to support carrier partners, customer sites, and Mansfield locations
