Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a Supervisor of Laboratory Services in Hematology/Coagulation to lead one or more technical areas, ensure smooth daily operations, and drive quality in a premier clinical laboratory.

You will build a high-performing team, develop procedures to meet accrediting standards, and collaborate with Medical/Technical leaders to roll out innovative test methods for timely, accurate results.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological science, medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
• Requires MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
• Five years of experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory with progressive responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead one or more technical areas or shifts in a clinical laboratory.
• Recruit, develop, engage, and manage performance of the laboratory team.
• Create and maintain procedures that meet accrediting and regulatory standards.
• Partner with Medical/Technical leaders to evaluate and implement test methods.
• Manage supply chain requirements for efficient operations.
• Develop financial forecasts and use metrics to drive quality and excellence.
• Champion system-wide standards across Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Line.

• Lead and oversee the operation of one or more technical areas or shifts, ensuring smooth daily operations
• Build and maintain a stellar team through recruitment, competency development, engagement initiatives, and performance management
• Create and maintain technical and operating procedures that exceed accrediting and regulatory requirements
• Partner with Medical and Technical Team leaders to evaluate and implement innovative test methods
• Manage supply chain requirements to keep operations efficient and effective
• Develop financial forecasts and leverage metrics to drive service quality and operational excellence
• Champion the development and implementation of system-wide standards across the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service Line

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Requires completion of an accredited Bachelor's Degree program in a chemical, physical, biological science, medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
• Requires certification as MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MLS(ASCP) or categorically in the primary area assigned.
• Requires five years of experience, with progressive responsibility in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting including experience with laboratory accreditation.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to oversee laboratory functions.
• Must demonstrate proficiency with personal computers for word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal interactions.
